Turians are a race of anthropomorphic horses. They are fairly short lived and mature very quickly. Sometime between the age of two and three years a young Turian will undergo the Arc-Rite. The Arc-Rite is performed by the Turian tech priests as a rite of passage into adulthood. The Arc-Rite involves the Turian foal selecting small pieces of arcana tech from different velvet bags held by the Tech Priests. The foal is then given a challenge to solve using these pieces of arcana tech. If the child succeeds they become an adult and are given the right to accept a purpose in Turian society. Turians place great emphasis on their given purpose in their society with the most well respected members being the council of Tech Priests and the Senior Engineers from the Arcana Tech Guild. This emphasis on their given purpose leads to a unique naming system that identifies an individual Turian based on their rank in society and their chosen purpose. The Turian naming system includes three separate parts: ‘rank’ ‘purpose’ ‘given name’. A child who has not yet undergone the Arc-Rite is called ‘Young’ ‘given name’. Turians are generally viewed by other races as being extremely driven and quick to jump to conclusions. Some Turians appear to be completely manic when compared to the relatively slow pace of other more ‘long lived’ races.
